Who Are We? Kenneth R. Brown, PhD
Dr. Kenneth R. Brown is an educator, businessman, activist and executive consultant to high profile corporate, government, university, and non-profit organizations. A former faculty member and Project Manager at the University of Michigan, Ken brings over 25 years of expertise in full program development and implementation of diversity integration strategies, curriculum design, conflict resolution, ethics, team building, anger management, and risk/change management. Ken holds a BA in Philosophy from the University of California at Santa Cruz, and a PhD in African American History from the University of Michigan. He has created business plans, sourced funding, designed infrastructure and developed e-mentoring platforms in partnerships with academic institutions, corporate groups, government agencies, non-profit organizations and NGOs, and faith-based and community-based organizations. He has led multi-functional leadership teams and developed curriculum, written and managed grants and taught urban entrepreneurship. Associates Ken Brown Jr.
Utilizing life-long learning from his father, as well diverse domestic and international experience, Ken Brown, Jr. brings to the Kenneth Brown Consulting team people skills and a background in secondary education, justice training and organizing, writing and editing, progressive ministry, coaching, and international sociopolitical analysis. Ken Jr. holds a BA in Public Communication from the American University in Washington, DC, and a Master of Divinity degree from Howard University, also in Washington. He has served in scholastic and non-profit/NGO settings, has worked in southern Africa during the anti-apartheid period, and has worked extensively with young people and those that work with them. Nadine Hall is the Director of Diversity and Admission Counselor at Greenhills School in Ann Arbor, MI. She earned her Master’s Degree from Eastern Michigan University. Nadine connects with students and engages them both inside and outside the classroom, including through the facilitation of groups such as African American Focus, Multicultural Club and SAFE—Students Allies For Equity. She is a member of various educational associations in Michigan and the Midwest, and has chaired a number of diversity committees. She brings professional perspective, humor and excellence in education to her expertise in day-to-day and long-range planning. Nadine was received with great reviews by her peer educators at the Tenth International Conference on Diversity in Organizations, Communities and Nations at Queens University, Belfast, Northern Ireland, 2010. Shannon obtained his BS from Eastern Michigan and holds several professional certifications. He has provided leadership for the University of Michigan Medical Center for over 13 years in Data Architecture.
